What you'll need
We're selective so customers know they can trust every Zulma cleaner. Cleaning experience is a plus but not required. Many of our top earners started without prior experience.

Common questions
You're an independent contractor. You set your hours, choose which jobs to accept, use your own supplies (with our discounted bulk-purchase program available), and report income via a T4A at year-end. We follow the Digital Platform Workers' Rights Act (Ontario), with full pay transparency on every job before you accept.
It varies by hours and specialty. A full-time cleaner doing 4–5 standard cleans a day earns $1,200–$1,700 per week including tips. Specialists in deep cleans, move-outs, or post-construction work earn $1,800–$2,400 per week. We never take more than 25% per job.
Yes, most cleaners bring their own. We offer an optional bulk-purchase program for vacuums, mops, and eco-friendly products at 20-35% off retail. Customers can also provide supplies if you prefer.
Zulma carries a $5M umbrella policy that covers our platform-level liability AND backstops you for catastrophic claims. But our insurer (Zensurance) requires every IC cleaner to carry their own $2M CGL as the front-line coverage for the work you actually do. This protects you personally (claims that could go after your assets) and it actually strengthens your position as a true independent business — which protects your IC tax status under CRA rules. Most sole-prop cleaners in Ontario pay $40–80/month for a $2M CGL policy through brokers like Zensurance, APOLLO, or ALIGNED.
Your $2M CGL responds first to damage claims. If anything ever exceeds your limit, Zulma's $5M umbrella backstops it. Theft claims are covered by Zulma's $25–50K janitorial bond. You'll never have to face a claim alone — but having your own policy means your insurer fights for you specifically, not just for Zulma.
Absolutely. Many cleaners start with 5–10 jobs a week alongside another job, then transition to full-time once they're getting consistent requests. There's no minimum hours requirement.
