Older Niagara homes may still have lead pipes, lead solder or a lead service line.
Niagara Region Public Health says homes built before 1955 may have lead plumbing and a lead water service line, and homes built before the mid to late 1980s may have lead solder. It warns against replacing only part of a lead line, because a partial replacement may raise the lead in the water.
