In Health Canada's cross-Canada radon survey, run over two heating seasons from 2009 to 2011, 2 of the 100 Niagara homes tested came in at more than three times the national guideline. Health Canada says no part of the country is radon free, and the only way to know about your own house is a long-term test of at least three months, ideally in fall or winter.
